Harry Brearley of Sheffield, England, is credited with inventing 'rustless' steel in 1915. In 1917 he and Thomas Firth established the Firth-Brearlely Stainless Steel Syndicate, which controlled the right to export stainless steel. The logo, “Firth-Brearley Stainless,” was to be stamped on all knife blades made under the aegis of the syndicate.
Grosvenor, an Australian cutlery manufacturer, was established in 1928.
The knife was used at Cliveden Mansions.
