Miscellaneous collection of items relating to Balzac restaurant. The restaurant operated between 1956 and 2001. It was started by George and Mirka Mora who sold it about five years later to John and Maria Kornyei.  In the late 1970s it was sold to Leon Massoni. In 1958 it was granted a licence to sell wine, and in 1960 was the first restaurant in Victoria to be granted the newly legislated restaurant licence which allowed alcohol to be served with meals until 10 p.m. Artist Charles Blackman worked there as a short order cook when it first opened.
